Our First MWC 2026 Experience: Inside the Massive Event and Huawei’s Trifold

If you follow this site, you know we are all about the latest gadgets, mobile spare parts, and keeping your tech in top shape. But this year, we decided to do something different. We headed straight to the source: MWC 2026 in Barcelona. It was our first year attending the world’s biggest mobile show, and honestly, we were blown away by the scale of it all.

Even though I’m used to seeing new tech every day, standing in the middle of this convention is a completely different story. It’s not just a trade show; it’s a glimpse into what we’ll all be carrying in our pockets for the next few years.

A City Made of Technology

Before arriving, people told me that this year wasn’t going to be as massive as previous ones, or that the level of innovation had dropped. But after walking the floors myself, I have to say I don’t agree. Being there for the first time, I was stunned by how huge the event actually is.

The Fira de Barcelona is divided into about 7 giant pavilions, and every single one was packed with companies, famous brands, and tiny startups showing off their latest inventions. You could spend days walking and still not see everything. The energy of thousands of people talking about the future of mobile phones is something you have to experience at least once.

The Huawei Empire: Half a Pavilion for One Brand

If there was one stand that really stood out because of its size, it was Huawei. They basically took over almost half of an entire pavilion. It was massive. They had everything there: smartwatches, tablets, laptops, and of course, their newest phones.

We spent a lot of time testing their products. Their new tablets are incredibly thin, and their laptops feel very high-end. But like most people at MWC, I was there to see the star of the show.

Testing the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design

I really wanted to see the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. I deal with phone screens and protective gear every day, but seeing a phone that folds three times (a trifold) is something else. It’s a real piece of engineering.

The design is beautiful and very elegant. I personally tested the purple version, and the “Ultimate Design” finish looks incredible. It feels solid in your hand, not fragile at all. When you unfold it, it turns into a huge, crisp screen, and then it folds back down to a size that actually fits in your pocket.

The only bad news? The trifold is currently only available in China. You can’t officially buy it here in Spain yet, which is a shame because it was easily one of the coolest things at the show. We also saw the Huawei Matebook Fold, which uses similar technology but for a laptop, and it looks like a game-changer for people who work while traveling.

Camera Power: The Mate XT and the P80

We also had the chance to test the cameras on both the Mate XT and the new Huawei P80. As someone who cares about photo quality, I was impressed. We tried the zoom by focusing on signs all the way across the massive hall, and the results were sharp.

The zoom is very clean, with almost no loss in image quality. Even with all the movement and the weird lighting of the convention center, the photos looked great. It’s clear that Huawei is still pushing the limits of what a mobile camera can do.

Final Thoughts on Our First Year

This first year at MWC 2026 has been an eye-opener. Despite what people said about the event being “smaller,” the inmensidad of the convention and the amount of new tech to explore is just overwhelming.

We saw a lot of things that will eventually require new repair parts and specific accessories, and we are already looking into how these trifold screens will change the market. There is still so much more to talk about from this trip, so stay tuned for our next posts where we’ll dive deeper into more MWC news!
